Ultimate Software, a provider of unified human capital management (HCM) SaaS (News - Alert) solutions for global businesses, announced that Romano's Macaroni Grill, a leading restaurant with more than 200 locations and over 13,000 employees, has selected Ultimate Software’s UltiPro solution as its “HCM system of record.”

Prior to deploying UltiPro, Romano's Macaroni Grill depended on their internally built HR management tool that was created to address the essential needs of employee management. The organization lacked the right technology to support the company’s people-focused strategies.

"The system we had been using was 'bare bones' when it came to features and flexibility. And meaningful reporting and forecasting were not possible because the system wasn't integrated with our outsourced payroll solution," said Drew Stafford, VP of information technology for Romano's Macaroni Grill, in a statement.

"Rather than take on a new internal IT project, our executives decided to utilize our development resources on other core business projects and deploy a SaaS solution that included everything we needed out of the box for human capital management, including payroll," Stafford added.

By deploying the HCM solution in the cloud, Romano's Macaroni Grill is now able to free their IT departments from the equipment and system maintenance burdens associated with on-premise software, while taking advantage of the latest capabilities for people management.

The restaurant chain selected UltiPro after realizing its proven tenure in SaaS delivery, along with its unified features for human resource and payroll. UltiPro also easily integrates with other company and third-party applications.

"We see UltiPro serving our entire workforce as well as our HR team and acting as a true catalyst for collaboration, strategic improvements, and operational effectiveness," Stafford added.

According to Greg Swick, chief sales officer for Ultimate Software, the company has consistently expanded the scope of their SaaS solution to address not just foundational HR, payroll, and benefits processes, but talent management and business intelligence that allows companies to manage people proactively.

Ultimate Software recently announced the Spring 2011 release of UltiPro HCM. Ultimate plans three major updates to its HCM suite this year, with additional releases to support compliance requirements as necessary.
