S&P Capital IQ Buys R2 Financial Technologies

S&P Capital IQ, a global provider of multi-asset class data, research and analytics, has successfully completed the acquisition of privately held R2 Financial Technologies.

R2 Financial Technologies, created in 2006, is a provider of advanced risk and scenario-based analytics to traders, portfolio and risk managers for pricing, hedging and capital management across asset classes.

Officials said that this acquisition will strategically complement S&P Capital IQ's existing capabilities and will enable the company to offer the industry's strongest cross-asset class portfolio analytics.

In a press release, Lou Eccleston, president of S&P Capital IQ, said, “We will now be able to offer clients an integrated view of market and credit risks across asset classes in a unique solution, which is increasingly important for financial institutions that are looking to manage complex and diverse portfolios across the globe.”

The R2 expert team of more than 30 financial engineers and technology specialists will now join S&P Capital IQ.

NxR2 system, the software product of R2, provides traders, portfolio and risk managers with superior risk, scenario and portfolio analytics for real-time pricing, hedging, and capital management of multi-asset portfolios.

R2 Capital, the middle-office risk and capital management software solution of R2 Financial Technologies, measures a portfolio’s counterparty credit risk and calculates credit valuation adjustments.

“We are very excited to be a part of S&P Capital IQ. This will allow us to expand our reach and meet the needs of our fast-growing client base, while we continue to develop new and innovative risk solutions,” said Dan Rosen, CEO of R2 Financial Technologies. “We believe that the combination of R2 trading, valuations and risk management products with S&P Capital IQ's multi-asset class data, research and analytics will help us redefine the risk space altogether.”

In related news, Cerner (News - Alert) Corporation has been picked by S&P Capital IQ as its Focus Stock of the Week. CERN carries S&P Capital IQ's highest investment recommendation of 5-STARS, or Strong Buy. CERN is the largest pure-play provider of health care information technology (HIT) solutions and related services.

The company's suite of services help health care organizations ranging in size from single-doctor practices to multi-hospital health care systems manage their clinical, financial, and management information systems.
