Cornerstone OnDemand Analyzes Effects of Talent Management Software in Public Sector

Cornerstone OnDemand announced a new whitepaper that examines how effective learning and talent management software and strategies can help federal, state and municipal entities reduce costs and improve productivity, while also building a strong talent foundation for their future.

Public sector organizations are challenged with ageing workforce and most of them are not competitive with the private sector workforce. This creates a wide gap in leadership and talent.

“With effective learning and talent management strategies, organizations can develop their employees to be more productive and engaged and build bench strength for future talent needs,” said Miranda Ashby, director of public sector sales for Cornerstone OnDemand.

Software can be used to automate key processes for learning management, performance management, succession planning and more. This will provide organizations with better workforce intelligence that will result in more informed planning and decision making, while also improving efficiencies.

The software-based performance management improves efficiencies and mitigates risks inherent in manual, paper-based procedures. The best way to utilize these software solutions is through Software-as-a-service (SaaS (News - Alert)) models.

SaaS models, according to Cornerstone OnDemand, are especially good solutions for federal, state and local agencies because they allow for rapid implementations at a much lower cost and with greater operational efficiencies than legacy, on-premise ERP systems.

“Because SaaS implementations do not require the same infrastructure as an on-premise system, organizations don't have the hassle or expense of investing in servers or the people to support them,” said Ashby. “With SaaS solutions, the vendor handles support, upgrades are seamless and agencies are better positioned to receive immediate benefits.”

The whitepaper, “Making the Best of It: Why Tough Times Make Talent Management Essential in the Public Sector,” also includes a case study highlighting Nebraska's investment in a SaaS solution to support its integrated learning and talent management strategy.

Recently, Cornerstone OnDemand announced that industry analyst Jason Corsello is joining the company as vice president of corporate development and strategy. Corsello will leverage his expertise in HR technology and services to identify key market opportunities, drive corporate initiatives, and guide M&A.
