ZoomSafer Software Cracks Down on Distracted Driving

A crusader against distracted driving, ZoomSafer came up with yet another innovation that, it hopes, will significantly reduce employees’ risks from distracted driving due to the use of mobile phones and cut back on the corporate fleet operator’s liability costs.

Through a recent press release, this provider of enterprise software announced the launch of a new and patent-pending software service in an effort to prevent distracted driving. This driver behavior modification solution, according to the company, is designed to enable corporate fleet operators and risk managers measure and manage employee use of mobile phones while driving. The existing ZoomSafer software support only smartphones, but the new product called FleetSafer has been designed to support any phone.

FleetSafer Vision does not require any on-device software. A cloud-based software service, FleetSafer Vision integrates vehicular telematics data (trip information, location, speed) with mobile device usage data (phone calls, text messages) and other information (email logs, weather, traffic) so fleet operators can measure and remediate risky behavior and reinforce good behavior, the officials at ZoomSafer explained.

“Distracted driving is the leading cause of on-the-job crashes, and presents a serious liability for fleet operators. ZoomSafer’s newest product represents a potentially valuable way for fleet operators to leverage existing investments in telematics to further reduce risk and liability and improve driver safety,” CEO of C.J. Driscoll and Associates, a leading research and consulting firm focused on fleet management, noted in a statement.

“Our existing product proactively prevents people from texting or emailing while driving, but it only works for smartphones, while FleetSafer Vision works for any phone. This innovative service was developed in direct response to feedback from telematics-equipped fleet operators who need to measure and manage this behavior regardless of phone type,” CEO of ZoomSafer, Matt Howard explained.

inthinc is a global company centered on telematics, fleet solutions and driving safety. The inthinc technology is trusted for dramatically improving driver behavior and has been documented to reduce accidents by more than 80 percent.

In a statement, CEO of inthinc Todd Follmer observed, “As the world’s leader in driver behavior modification technologies, we’re constantly looking for value-added services to extend the value of our core telematics platform. FleetSafer Vision is a perfect complement to inthinc and we’re excited to offer it to our corporate fleet customers.”

Last year, ZoomSafer was honored with the 2010 Northern Virginia Technology Council (NVTC) Hot Ticket Award for "Hottest Social Buzz." The award recognizes a local company that has received the most outstanding coverage in traditional media, social media and on social networking platforms.
