Gartner Includes Project.net in Magic Quadrant for PPM Solution

Project.net Inc., which provides collaborative Project Management and Portfolio Management (PPM) services, has been included by Gartner (News - Alert), Inc. in its "Magic Quadrant for IT Project and Portfolio Management Applications research report.

The Magic Quadrant is a graphical representation of a marketplace at and for a specific time period. It depicts Gartner’s analysis of how certain vendors measure against criteria for that marketplace, as defined by Gartner. Gartner maintains that the Magic Quadrant is intended solely as a research tool, and is not meant to be a specific guide to action.

Project.net provides organizations with an enterprise-grade, customizable and robust alternative to expensive and proprietary monolithic applications. "It's great that Gartner has recognized Open Source (News - Alert) as a credible contender in this space that has historically been the exclusive purview of large software vendors," says Peter Winston, CEO. "We've long known that Project.net's open source approach is ideal for implementing effective, flexible, and affordable Project Management."

Long a leader in innovative project and portfolio management, Project.net is being downloaded from SourceForge hundreds of times per day and through strong international adoption is increasingly becoming Where the World Works. The extensive Project.net community enables adopters of all sizes and capabilities to optimize the performance of their organization within Project.net's collaborative and comprehensive project management framework.

In addition to acknowledging that Project.net is "one of just a select few open-source/commercial PPM (News - Alert) systems available." Gartner also notes Project.net's mid-market appeal and penetration. Gartner also acknowledged Project.net's extensibility with other packages that expand overall functionality and capability.

Project.net is Where the World Works, an open source project management and project portfolio management (PPM) solution with more than 100,000 users worldwide. Project.net helps organizations spend money where it counts through dramatic cost and time savings in project execution across the enterprise. Project.net is fully customizable and supportable by you or by our team of world-class developers, trainers, and system administrators.

Gartner recently placed Verizon (News - Alert) Business in its “Leaders Quadrant for Communications Outsourcing and Professional Services, North America” report, which is based on the assessment of 17 U.S.-based providers of IT services for business communications systems – including both fixed and mobile connectivity. These service providers were evaluated for specific services including maintenance and support, consulting, application development, integration, and ongoing management of IT and related business processes.
