CIPD Launching New Human Resources Apprenticeship Program

When it comes to today’s business world, it seems as if human resources management suites are often an afterthought. They really shouldn’t be ignored, since they tend to be the kind of programs that actually keep a company running like a well oiled machine. For their part, the Chartered Institute for Personnel and Development (CIPD) have launched a new, higher apprenticeship that is geared towards getting more people involved in a career in human resources.

This particular program was put together by gaining quite a bit of input both from employers and employees that work and train a lot of the workforce. The program looks to make it more attractive to young workers to enter the human resources development field and it hopes to give employers even more ways to recruit and attract people in this sector.

This particular program is being supported by the British government to the tune of an investment of a little over $1.2 million,  it will be able to give human resource apprentices an in depth training program as well as on the job training.

The trainees will learn all there is to know about the modern human resources field including improving organizational performance, knowledge management, employment law and talent planning. CIPD is also offering a higher apprenticeship program that will be the equivalent of having a second year degree in human resources.

Peter Cheese, chief executive of the CIPD, talked about his new program, saying, "The CIPD promotes apprenticeships as an effective means of employers recruiting and developing talent and so it was natural and appropriate for us to introduce an apprenticeship scheme for our own profession so that we can attract a more diverse array of talent to pursue careers in HR and business more generally.”

Adding, "The higher apprenticeship in HR management will allow organisations to expand their human resource function whilst attracting a talent pool of individuals who might not otherwise have considered the profession."
