Mitchell International, Inc. has been recognized and appreciated by URAC, a health care accrediting organization, for introducing the Workers’ Compensation Utilization Management Program.
URAC has awarded full accreditation to Mitchell's Workers’ Compensation Utilization Management Program that helps insurance claims payers reduce unauthorized treatment losses, improve efficiency, accelerate treatment decisions, and optimize investment in utilization review technology. Mitchell International additionally helps insurers comply with individually mandated state and URAC guidelines and timetables for Utilization Review, as well as state reporting of Utilization Review Services in the states where this is required.
The URAC Workers' Compensation Utilization Management standards establish consistency in WCUM processes by, among other things, requiring that appropriately trained clinical personnel conduct and oversee the utilization review process, a reasonable and timely appeals process is in place, and that medical decisions are based on valid clinical criteria.
Nina Smith-Garmon, senior VP and General Manager of the Mitchell Workers' Compensation Solutions Division, said that their company is proud to have again received URAC accreditation for their Workers’ Compensation Utilization Management Program – a process requiring rigorous review of their business operations that reflects on their commitment to medical claims processing best practices.
Furthermore, Mitchell’s staff claims to work closely with healthcare providers to determine the appropriateness and quality of medical care being requested for the injured worker.
"By applying for and receiving Workers' Compensation Utilization Management accreditation, Mitchell has demonstrated a commitment to quality health care," said Alan P. Spielman, URAC president and CEO. He added, "Quality health care is crucial to our nation's welfare and it is important to have organizations that are willing to measure themselves against national standards."
Mitchell currently processes over 50 million transactions annually for over 300 insurance companies/claims payers and over 30,000 collision repair facilities throughout North America.
