Orc & Blue Trading Systems Put Tablets in Floor Traders' Hands

While images of a stock trading floor may call up images from Trading Places--or even a rush to YouTube (News - Alert) to check out clips involving frozen concentrated orange juice futures--the idea of making a paperless office is no less alive on the trading floor than it is anywhere else. That's why Orc and Blue Trading Systems are working together to get traders out of the paper and into tablets.

The combination of Orc, a major name in financial industry technology and accompanying services, and Blue Trading Systems, a trading technology firm that focuses on options markets, is a surprisingly potent one indeed. The plan is to bring Orc's APIs in on the BlueTrade tablet system, backed up by Orc's electronic options system, and this combination of systems is projected to provide traders with a significant advantage in trading by providing pricing data--including models and analysis--on the various items available to trade.

Since the tablet is also geared to synchronize with Orc's systems, the end result is a wide variety of up-to-the-minute data presented in an easy to use and easy to digest package. The included dynamic spread window can even provide analysis on a spread with an unlimited number of so-called "legs".

Peter Huff, Orc's sales director, expressed his excitement of the deal between Orc and Blue Trading Systems, saying, "We are excited to partner with Blue Trading Systems and offer a solution that provides optimal performance for electronic market makers and the specific functionality and screen set up that floor traders require."

Meanwhile, Blue Trading System's Kevin Darby, has already had some success with the combined system to report, saying, "...our first client loves the speed and functionality."

Trading is never an easy business. Trying to pin down the exact values of things to come is a difficult process at best and downright impossible at the worst. The careful management of data will go a long way toward not only reducing the overall risk inherent in the system but also increasing the reward likely to be realized. Nothing short of actual precognition--or insider trading--can ever assure zero risk and maximum reward, but going in with a full loadout of trading data that's easily accessible--the end result of the combination of Orc and Blue Trading Systems--will be an excellent weapon for any trader to go forth and do battle with the slings and arrows of market trading.
