Charlotte to Receive 100 IT Jobs Through 2013

When you think about the city of Charlotte, the odds are that you do not think about the world of high tech. After all, that kind of a reputation is usually reserved for a certain location in California, but one company hopes to change that and make Charlotte a hub for IT work. That company is LPL Financial Holdings Inc., and they have recently begun a plan that they hope will bring more than 100 IT related jobs to the greater Charlotte area. About half of those jobs are going to be hiring immediately, in an attempt to jumpstart the program.

"We are excited to expand our technology presence in Charlotte, which will allow LPL Financial to leverage the Eastern corridor's deep pool of talent within that sector,” said Sallie Larsen, managing director and chief human capital officer at LPL Financial in a release. “We are aggressively looking to hire locally within the Charlotte area and to support the city by attracting accomplished tech workers from other areas on the East Coast. We are proud to serve as a leading employer in the city of Charlotte, which continues to be an outstanding source of highly skilled talent at all levels.”

LPL Financial was founded to help entrepreneurial financial advisors establish successful businesses through which they could offer truly independent financial guidance and advice. It provides an integrated platform of proprietary technology, brokerage and investment advisory services to more than 12,500 financial advisors. The financial products distributor supports over 4,000 advisors with customized clearing, advisory platform and technology solutions."This announcement underscores our commitment to continuously reinvest in the technology resources that are central to the support we provide to thousands of financial advisors across the nation,” said Chris Feeney, managing director and chief information officer at LPL Financial. “At the same time, this is part of a larger ongoing Company initiative to ensure continuity for mission critical business functions by having robust technology capabilities on both coasts, thereby ensuring the seamless delivery of service to our financial advisors.”

LPL Financial has maintained a significant presence in Charlotte since 2006, having over 800 employees across a broad range of functions, including compliance, operations, business consulting, and a service center supporting financial advisors and institutions affiliated with the company across the nation.

Bob Morgan, president of the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce, said, "The Charlotte Chamber of Commerce welcomes the boost to the local economy that this jobs creation initiative will provide. LPL Financial has been a major and valued employer in Charlotte since establishing corporate offices here in 2006, and today's announcement only further demonstrates their already strong commitment to our community. We are very pleased that the company continues to reinvest in our city and its people, and we look forward to working with them as a partner in the future."
