Sales Tax Associates Simplifies Tax Filing for Telecom Companies

If you’re in the telecom industry, filling out tax paperwork, a task that is less than desirable to most, is still required by the law and imperative for your business’s success.

In fact, for a business, an undertaking like filing sales, use and excise related taxes, while time consuming and often complicated, has to be done and can attract penalties if not properly met. With the difficulty of understanding complex rules associated with constant rate changes and a long list of other initiatives executives are bogged down with, it makes more sense to hire professionals who are well-versed and experienced in the telecom tax industry.

Sales Tax Associates, Inc. (STA) takes care of the entire process for telecom companies nationwide by specializing in the processing, filing and paying of their taxes. STA is experienced in all aspects of telecom tax including sales, use and even regulatory compliance. The company prides itself in filing thousands of returns and remitting millions of dollars in taxes every month, accurately and on time.

This week TMCnet had the opportunity to sit down with Michelle French, director of marketing for Sales Tax Associates at COMPTEL (News - Alert) PLUS in Orlando, FL. The event, which is mainly based on Ethernet services and equipment trends, also includes a handful of exhibitors and attendees in the tax and billing markets, one of those companies being STA.

French referred to the service STA provides as different from other sales tax offerings in the industry due to their quality customer service. The company’s current customers are extremely satisfied with the level of personalization Sales Tax puts into its service and due to their satisfaction and referrals have assisted in helping STA continue to grow and expand.

The company’s fifth show exhibiting, COMPTEL PLUS has also been a constant driver behind the success of the company, according to French. The networking and connections that are made while exhibiting on the show floor and attending the event have allowed STA to meet a variety of new customers that were not previously aware of all the company has to offer.

French explained the complications in taxations as never-ending. “And with VoIP in the mix now for most telecom companies its unregulated and the taxation point is where most of the conflict occurs,” she continued.

She added that most new customers come to STA panic-stricken due to forgetting to register for their sales taxes and facing penalizations or re-registration if they do not comply with the rules and regulations by the required deadline.

That’s where Sales Tax Associates steps in. The company aids their customers in all registration forms, providing them with suggestions along the way as to how to make filing their taxes easier in the long run. However, once STA’s work is done it is up to the customers themselves to follow through with the final steps such as providing STA with the consent to move forward with the filing, paying fees or preparing for the next quarter’s requirements early.

STA does a thorough job of following up with each customer on a monthly basis by providing them with reports as well as notifications based on their personal accounts.

The future of Sales Tax Associates is certainly on the rise. French referred to the consistent growth of the company as steadily increasing but at a controlled rate; an accomplishment STA owes entirely to its customers and experienced staff.
