Electrical Wiring Devices Company Leviton Acquires Obvious



Leviton Manufacturing Company, the leader in electrical wiring devices, lighting energy management systems and commercial data networking solutions, has recently acquired Obvius, a recognized leader of cost-effective hardware solutions to collect energy information.

With the acquisition, Leviton will be able to expand its line of lighting and energy management solutions. Already, the company offers solutions for smart metering, energy data information, load management and LEED rating achievement. 

"Obvius is another key acquisition that supports our leadership in sustainable energy technologies," said Daryoush Larizadeh, Leviton's chief operating officer, in a press release. "As the leader in lighting energy management solutions, our continued expansion into the measurement and verification market supports our customers' efforts to validate and optimize the performance of their systems in pursuit of LEED credits and reduced energy use. This positions Leviton as a single source solution by providing an integrated approach for tracking, monitoring and verifying energy consumption and implementing cost and carbon footprint reduction."

Obvius products offer data acquisition, wireless communications, energy dashboard software and plug-and-play hardware solutions. The company’s proven technology allows users to monitor electric, water, gas, environmental and renewable energy information all on one platform – accessible through any Web browser. The solutions offered by company are based on an open architecture allowing the customers to collect and log energy information from virtually any meter or sensor.
