New Mexico's Human Services Department Renews its Contract with Xerox

Modern day health care providers need to make the business of healthcare more accessible, affordable and efficient by sharpening their expertise across virtually every aspect of the healthcare ecosystem, including providers, payers, employers and government agencies. Realizing this, New Mexico's Human Services Department has renewed its partnership with Xerox, consisting of a 58-month, $105 million contract to manage and improve the state's delivery of quality health care to Medicaid recipients.

To help ensure the health of citizens and to control expenses in the process, resource-constrained government agencies are improving the efficiency of their Medicaid as well as other health programs. With the solutions provided by Xerox, government agencies will be able to cater to a variety of needs; HIEs, EHRs, analytics and reporting, fraud and abuse prevention, management and administration of health programs, pharmacy benefits, payment methods and more.

Xerox has been managing Medicaid services for New Mexico since 1994. Last year, Xerox processed 23 million claims and managed $3.5 billion in Medicaid payments, the company stated in a press release.

“Our continued partnership with the state means beneficiaries will have innovative health care tools at a time when government agencies are focused on making the most of their budget dollars," said Will Saunders, group president, Xerox Government Healthcare Solutions, in a company press release. "We implement service offerings that allow states to provide the highest level of service to their citizens without cutting programs.”

In 2011, TMC’s (News - Alert) Shamila Janakiraman reported that the company also introduced a free desktop application which can evaluate e-mails and calendar notices to detect distractions, thus improving business practice and performance. The new app analyzes users’ e-mail, contacts, and calendar, as well as the vocabulary one uses in order to highlight possible distractions.
