UltiPro Unifies Employee Data Management for Laird Technologies

Laird Technologies unified employee information for 13,000 multinational employees with UltiPro. The HR and payroll processes have also been consolidated for 600 U.S.-based employees. The company has also reduced administrative staff after activating UltiPro in 2009. An announcement in this regard has been made by the top provider of unified human capital management SaaS (News - Alert) solutions for global businesses, Ultimate Software. Laird Technologies is a top company in customized performance-critical components and systems for advanced electronics and wireless products.

Ten payroll service bureau accounts and federal employer identification numbers (FEINs) had been accumulated by Laird after several acquisitions. Disparate systems and databases were used by the company which operates in 14 countries to store HCM information in different formats. This would create significant reporting and data integrity issues. To manage the expanding workload, the company was forced to staff up its HR team.

Laird decided to take advantage of Ultimate's SaaS HCM solution, UltiPro to address this range of challenges and inefficiencies. Andy Schultze, HR systems manager for Laird Technologies (News - Alert), said that the data for the company's multinational employee population has been centralized by UltiPro. Many strategic and tactical advances across the business have also been delivered by the solution.

Separate business units and different FEINs can be set up with UltiPro. 14 separate payroll accounts have therefore been merged by Laird Technologies into one consolidated system-of-record.  According to Schultze, Laird has achieved greater accuracy with the single database with UltiPro. Compliance reporting has improved along with numerous efficiencies across the company, added Schultze.

In a press release, Greg Swick, chief sales officer of Ultimate, said, "Payroll service bureaus typically cannot deliver the right strategic functionality or business intelligence for global enterprises. Many former service bureau customers tell us that the payroll service bureau model is inherently focused on the tactical processes of executing payroll, not providing the strategic HCM information that lets companies elevate their game."

Swick added that companies like Laird can operate from a 'single version of the truth' with UltiPro through unified data and sophisticated business intelligence tools. On behalf of Ultimate, Swick congratulated Laird for achieving its vision of a holistic approach to managing its global workforce.
