Esker (News - Alert), a provider of document process automation solutions, recently announced that it has been adopted by Roche Italia, is a well known competitor of research-focused healthcare solutions.

“In particular, the Lazio region has approved the signing of agreements to regulate procedures and arrangements for payment of health benefits by making healthcare facilities provisionally accredited from January 1, 2009," said Benedetto Scamarcia, the Information Manager at Roche S.p.A.

According to the new regulations, an agreement has to be signed between the supplier and the local health authorities. For the supplier, this implies: the waiver of any litigation, the waiver of interest accrued up to 180 days and the need to electronically send invoices to a central system. This central system is responsible for steering these invoices to the proper authorities through the same method. On the other hand, the health authorities are liable for settling claims within 120 days and the amount should be paid within 180 days from the submission date of the electronic invoice. Also, they need to provide technical assistance for the region.
