NCR Corporation Implements POS Technology for Juan Valdez Cafe Stores

NCR Corporation will be implementing its POS technology at all Juan Valdez Café’s chain of stores replacing the existing PC-based point-of-sale (POS) terminals. Juan Valdez Cafe offers high-quality premium Colombian coffee for consumers in addition to being farmer friendly.

Roberto Held, chief financial officer at Procafecol S.A, the parent company of Juan Valdez Cafe said, “As we continue to grow, it becomes increasingly important to utilize the most advanced and durable consumer transaction solution we can find. NCR strengthens us technologically while providing us with worldwide support, no matter where we expand.”

As a consumer transaction technologies specialist NCR will be able to enhance the customer service delivery in all the stores. NCR will start by installing 120 POS terminals in Colombian stores in the initial stages by developing a standard platform. This will be followed by the standardization of its franchises and operations in existing stores and new stores outside Columbia.

This is vital as the company strives to expand its business in several new locations and with new franchises in Aruba, Chile, Ecuador, Peru, Mexico, Middle East, Asia and the United States.

The NCR POS solution comprises of a guest-facing screen which is expected to allow Juan Valdez Cafe Stores to communicate new marketing initiatives like offerings which relied on paper advertisements previously. The terminals feature biometric scanners which allow employees to access functions securely and enhance customer service.

Andy Caraballo, general manager, Caribbean and Latin America, NCR remarked, “Previously, Juan Valdez Cafe was using a PC-based POS that was not purpose-built for hospitality operations. Our technology enables their growth with a higher level of durability and sophistication, including a better ability to quickly align with their other marketing efforts.”

Recently NCR Corporation signed a contract with Lukoil to deploy advanced point of sale hardware and software solutions at the latter’s petroleum outlets and convenience stores. NCR is deploying its flagship POS solutions at 170 gas station convenience stores across Belgium. The contract is expected to be extended to include Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) locations of Lukoil, covering more than 400 facilities across six countries in the region.
