Intuit Gives QuickBooks Online Site a New Look

Intuit (News - Alert) is taking some big steps in order to make more inroads with the small business accounting crowd. One of the biggest steps is that the company has made some upgrades to its QuickBooks online account software. The new upgrades give the website a new look and feel. That look and feel looks and feels an awful lot like Mint.com which shows you just how quickly that site has become a power in the online money management community.

The redesign is being considered rather critical for the company since it is expected to end this fiscal year with a huge influx in users. The company is actually looking for more people to go with the online version of QuickBooks than the desktop version for the first time as well. Intuit is also well aware that the market for servicing small businesses is heating up big time.

While Mint.com is geared more towards the individual’s money management, there are plenty of company’s looking to service small and medium sized businesses (SMBs). Square, Belly and Shopify are all gearing up to do battle with Intuit for the attention of the SMBs. It makes sense that the company has decided it needs to keep all eyes on it by making its website look better and feel easier to use.

The biggest needs SMBs have these days, is the ability to accept multiple payment formats in one place while also bringing in new customers and managing those customer relationships. Intuit says that it is doing this by offering up a service that SMBs and other developers will be able to “plug into” fairly quickly.

The end goal for Intuit is to work with a small business that is able to pick and choose the different kind of services that are offered up. Intuit wants to be on the ground floor, tying those businesses together. The redesign of the QuickBooks online website is just a link in that particular chain.
