U.S. Bank Selects FIS Mobile Financial Services for Prepaid Card Program



U.S. Bank has selected FIS to introduce mobile financial services for the U.S. Bank AccelaPay Visa prepaid card program.

The prepaid U.S. Bank AccelaPay Visa Card replaces costly paper checks in a broad range of recurring business cash disbursement needs including payroll, commissions, travel advances and insurance claim distributions. Businesses deposit funds to an AccelaPay Visa Card account just like a direct deposit to a checking account.

Allowing users to make deposits and pay bills, the AccelaPay card is a prepaid card that functions as a traditional bank account. Research has shown that consumers are more likely to have a mobile phone than a PC, the company claims. To create a tighter bond between U.S. Bank and this customer segment, banks can now add mobile access to their primary financial vehicle, the company has stated.

“Early on, FIS recognized the need to offer a comprehensive suite of mobile banking and payment options for the growing prepaid card market," said Frank D’Angelo, executive vice president, FIS Payment Solutions. "By enabling this customer segment to conduct financial services via their mobile phones, the financial institution will benefit from strengthened relationships and ultimately a stronger revenue stream”

Designed to replace costly paper checks for businesses with recurring cash disbursement activities, such as payroll, commissions, travel advances and insurance claim distributions, the U.S. Bank AccelaPay Visa is a prepaid, reloadable card. Cardholders can use the AccelaPay Visa card everywhere Visa debit cards are accepted worldwide. AccelaPay for mobile banking, the first full-suite mobile banking solution and it comes with the bill pay capabilities in the prepaid marketplace.

The company recently, announced that American Express (News - Alert) Travel Related Services is now an issuing participant on the NYCE ATM network. The agreement includes priority routing to NYCE Payments Network, LLC, a leading U.S. electronic payments network and an FIS company. FIS is one of the world's largest providers of banking and payments technology. American Express Company is a global payments, network and travel company founded in 1850.
