Verizon Wireless Unveils Tools to Help Entrepreneurs Manage Data Usage

Verizon Wireless (News - Alert) announced it is helping entrepreneur customers to efficiently manage and track their data usage.

With the growing dependence on tablets and smartphones, entrepreneurs need to develop presentations, view and share streaming video and continually research markets, customers and other business dynamics. Estimating and managing data usage in these devices become critical.

“Verizon Wireless recognizes that entrepreneurs need several devices to make their businesses run efficiently,” said Michael C. Schaefer, executive director, National SMB Marketing, Verizon Wireless.  “Estimating data needs along with tracking and managing their usage helps businesses to maximize their resources.”

The company has announced several tools that help entrepreneurs plan, predict and check the pulse of their data usage on Verizon Wireless smartphones and tablets in a variety of easy ways.

The company has developed a Data Usage Calculator that allows enterprise decision makers determine which data plan suit the company’s wireless needs. The tool helps them estimate data usage for all common features. With this data usage calculator, professionals – such as realtors – can get a sense of how much mobile data they might use when the market heats up and they have to stay on top of local property values from their tablets.

The Data Usage Widget is another new tool developed by Verizon Wireless for Android (News - Alert) smartphones, which helps small business professionals stay within their mobile budget and connect to their My Verizon Mobile accounts.

The #DATA helps entrepreneurs and small business owners from Verizon Wireless smartphones receive a free text message with information on their usage. This allows small businesses and vendors double check their data limits from their smartphones.

In addition to these offerings for entrepreneurs, Verizon Wireless has developed a video offering that provides tips and shortcuts on how to manage their wireless lives. Titled “It’s Easy To Track Your Wireless Usage,” the video provides tips, such as how to find the number of multimedia messages sent and received each month. It highlights many of the resources Verizon Wireless offers for customers to check and monitor data usage.

In another related announcement, Verizon said it is offering a new way to communicate with 911 call centers, run by public safety officials, to allow those who are deaf or hard of hearing and therefore cannot make voice calls. The renowned wireless operator has announced plans to launch a new text-to-911 service, designed to contact the emergency services via short message service (SMS).
