Networking company Cisco (News - Alert) announced its intent to acquire privately-held Pari Networks to complement its smart service capabilities.

California-based Pari Networks is a provider of network configuration and change management, or  “NCCM,” and compliance management solutions. Its products and services facilitate users to achieve compliance, enforce security policies, pro-actively mitigate threats and manage networks.

According to Pari Networks, its solutions will enable users to: enforce compliance monitoring, violation reporting and resolution in an automated manner; conduct scheduled security and policy audits consistently using profile functionality for automatic reporting and mitigation actions for any configuration/policy changes; provide effective security policy enforcement along with proactive management and monitoring; and provide automated network configuration deployment with easy to use, flexible configuration applications.

Officials with Cisco said in a press release that upon closing of the acquisition transaction, Pari Networks' technology will be integrated into Cisco's smart services in order to help accelerate the ability of Cisco and its partners to better manage the health and stability of customer networks via proactive, personalized services.

According to Cisco, the company and its partners have been evolving service offerings from reactive to proactive by embedding smart service capabilities throughout professional and technical services.

"As business functions become more reliant on devices and applications that run over their networks, customers realize that maintaining the health and performance of the network is critical," said Joe Pinto, senior vice president of Cisco's Technical Services, in a statement. "Pari Networks will help Cisco and our partners to deliver smarter, more proactive services that help our customers to identify potential network problems before they occur and optimize the performance, management and efficiency of their networks." 

Apart from Pari Networks' technology, Pari Networks' employees will also be integrated into Cisco's Technical Services upon closing of the acquisition transaction.

However, financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. The acquisition, which is expected to be complete in the third quarter of Cisco's fiscal year 2011, is subjected to various standard closing conditions.

In other  recent news, service provider Hong Kong Broadband Network Limited “HKBN” chose Cisco’s CRS-3 Carrier Routing System as the foundation for its core Internet Protocol Next-Generation Network “IP NGN.”
