Alert), a non-profit trade organization for the information technology field, announced that it has introduced an interactive and customizable human resources handbook which will benefit member companies besides serving the unique needs of IT companies.
The CompTIA employee handbook will enable IT businesses to create a customizable employee handbook that will match the company’s philosophy, vision, mission, goals and business priorities by answering a series of questions online.
In a release Dan Liutikas, senior vice president, industry relations, CompTIA said, “Managing employees can be one of the toughest challenges a business faces. Having a handbook can help companies create an organizational culture; ensures that expectations are articulated to staff; and offers some measure of protection from potential HR liabilities.”
CompTIA members will be allowed to select from several topics which can be selected to be included in their customized handbook. The topics included are hiring practices, pay policies, benefits, leave and time off policies, performance and evaluation, and many others. The process includes three simple steps. Info regarding the companies has to be entered first.
Following this a series of questions have to be answered which relate to the organization’s location and procedures. On clicking ‘submit’ a customized employee handbook can be downloaded, said CompTIA sources.
Besides allowing the information to be customized for the IT professional community the tool also allows customization based on business location to account for differing state laws. CompTIA members can easily find information on the state laws and regulations that affect their business through a “frequently asked questions” section pertaining to all states in the U.S.
Liutikas added, “We’ve tapped the expertise of IT industry professionals and consultants who are also a part of CompTIA’s mentor program for members to develop content for the handbook. The result of this collective expertise is a valuable cost- and time-saving tool for our member companies.”
The CompTIA Employee Handbook is a new addition to several free and discounted benefits that IT manufacturers, distributors, resellers, solution providers and other organizations have access to with their membership in CompTIA.
