Control Techniques Wins European Product Line Strategy Award

Frost & Sullivan (News - Alert) recently honored Control Techniques with the 2013 European Product Line Strategy Award. As part of Frost & Sullivan’s recent study on the electric drives market for computerization of manufacturing, Control Techniques has demonstrated an advanced capability to address and exceed customer requirements in the international manufacturing automation market. Control Techniques has been honored for the success of its newest Unidrive M series drives, designed especially for the manufacturing sector.

In a statement, Sivakumar Narayanaswamy, research manager, Frost & Sullivan, said, "Our research shows that the European market for electric drives was valued at $3 billion in 2012, and is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 3.7 percent until 2017. Manufacturing automation holds a significant proportion of this market and Control Techniques' Unidrive M range is one of the world's most comprehensive classes of drives for manufacturing automation applications."

Control Techniques undertakes exhaustive endeavors to comprehend the precise requirements of customers before developing products to specifically address these requirements. Incremental levels of functionality are delivered by the Unidrive M range, developed to exactly fulfill the complete assortment of application pre-requisites along with the extremely intricate requirements in the manufacturing computerization area.

Extraordinary control of practically all types of industrial electric motors in manufacturing automation applications is offered by the Unidrive M family. These applications can vary from normal induction, permanent magnet motors to high performance servo motors, and can work in open or closed loop modes.

A completely open creation environment is featured by all the drives in the Unidrive M family, offering a broad assortment of machine components to the machine designers. The machine designers are therefore not constrained by closed systems. The CODESYS programming platform with industry standard IEC (News - Alert) 61131-3 programming languages and standard Ethernet are utilized by Unidrive M for communicating across drives and other industrial devices like PLCs.

Narayanaswamy said, "The large installed base of its drives demonstrates Control Techniques' technical capability and rich expertise in the segment. In addition to a customer-focused approach, key strategies, such as an elaborate service portfolio providing general maintenance, repairs and replacements, and ‘round-the-clock customer support have been the other success factors for the company."
