SubscriberWise, a provider of analytics-driven subscriber risk-management solutions required by the communications industry, revealed that decision management technology is helping both under-banked consumers and cable and telecom operators. Such operators are in need of technology for maintaining fair and unbiased security underwriting of their programming and hardware offerings which is delivered by SubscriberWise.
David Howe, president of SubscriberWise said, “In an environment where the majority of adults are credit-consuming Americans, there remain millions of consumers today who are not actively using credit. These are non-scorable consumers and they represent a significant population of applicants to operators everywhere.”
According to available statistics, about 20 percent of consumers are non-scorable when they apply for services from any SubscriberWise member. The appearance of a credit score need not categorize all customers on the same scale, says Howe.
All non-scorable consumers do not behave in similar ways as risk levels vary among subscribers. But automated rules and the decision-management technology used in many systems puts all non-scorable consumers together.
However, the SubscriberWise technology maintains strict and absolute compliance with federal, state, and local laws regarding score-based and rules-driven consumer credit decision systems, which can be used for all underwriting purposes.
Officials explained that the SubscriberWise technology is capable of instantly evaluating non-scorable files besides being able to measure incidents of past due accounts, collections, length of history, and combinations of these factors to assign a decision level.
Also, each decision level that is generated is empirically calibrated in accordance with performance metrics of actual telecom consumers over a period of 10 years of detailed payment data. As human or subjective factors are not used, the SubscriberWise rules and decision technology saves time and money for operators.
The proprietary decision technology developed by SubscriberWise offers critical information to an operator about how their under-banked consumers can be segmented with all their prospects as well. The SubscriberWise segmentation technology defines those consumers who, in spite of having a non-scorable file, can be treated favorably owing to the absence of any adverse information about them.
Such clear information helps telecom operators who are members of SubscriberWise in addition to benefiting under-banked consumers in America by offering them an equitable risk assessment, added Howe.
Recently SubscriberWise declared that consumer credit files maintained at the three large national repositories in America are more accurate as a direct result of the hundreds of thousands of credit submissions processed by its nationwide member operators every year.
