Aberdeen Declares Performance Data & Portfolio Composition



Aberdeen Asset Management PLC, an investment management group that manages assets for both institutions and private individuals, has declared the performance data and portfolio composition of Aberdeen (News - Alert) Global Income Fund, Inc., its closed-end bond fund as of February 28, 2013.

The declaration comprises of total returns collected by the Aberdeen for a number of periods until the 28th of February, 2013. Since its introduction that was made in March 1992, the fund has generated a NAV total return percentage of 446.5 percent on cumulative basis, while the same on annualized basis was 8.4 percent. At the same time, the market price total return percentage for the same duration was 422.9 percent and 8.2 percent on cumulative and annualized basis’ respectively.

Similarly, cumulative NAV total return percentage of Aberdeen Global Income Fund, Inc., during the last ten years was 154.3 percent and the annualized percentage was 9.8 percent; while cumulative and annualized market price total return percentages for the same duration were 174.2 percent and 10.6 percent respectively.

Portfolio of the fund had attracted investment from across the globe, and the global distribution of investment offered some startling revelations. In terms of currency exposure percentage, the United States topped the list with 31.7 percent, to be followed by Australia with 23.2 percent, New Zealand with 13.8 percent and Canada with 11.1 percent. Geographic exposure of the fund in the same duration had something else to say, as Australia lead the lot with 22.4 percent; while the nations falling in Emerging Markets, New Zealand and the United Kingdom followed with 18.2, 17.8 and 12.2 percent respectively.

Average maturity of the portfolio has been 9.0 years and it utilizes an in place leverage in the form of a syndicated loan facility that renews every year. An outstanding balance on the loan amounting to $40,000,000 stands till the aforementioned date.

 In August 2012, Aberdeen Global Income Fund, Inc. announced that it paid on August 17, a distribution of US $0.07 per share to all shareholders of record as of July 31.
