DFCU Financial Grooms Itself in a Smart ECM Suite

Inefficiency in an organization can stupefy its workings, halt its progress, bringing chaos and disorder in its wake, but why does all this have to happen when there's a way out? With Enterprise Content Management, organizations can take total control.

This is what DFCU Financial realized, and a unanimous vote from its selection board saw the credit union make a two-phased transition to Hyland Software's enterprise content management (ECM) solution suite, OnBase.

OnBase is a solution that automates business processes by capturing information from all sources, making it available centrally, increasing efficiency and improving member service, said officials.

Given the multiple sources of content that fall outside the typical document category, it's rather pointless to stick on to document-centric management solutions that barely serve the purpose, and DFCU, having witnessed the inadequacies of the solution that it had been using for documents and record management, resorted to migrating to an ECM solution.

In the first phase, DFCU plans to convert its legacy system to OnBase and integrate it with the credit union's open solutions core platform.

During the second phase, DFCU will go hi-tech by implementing e-solutions, decentralized scanning and auto indexing. Further, it also intends to expand its e-fax solution to create a portal for members and enable them to archive and access their information.

"The second stage is really the most exciting for us because it's the part that will have a direct impact our members, efficiency goals, and bottom line," Elizabeth Hershey, vice president, delivery channel support at DFCU Financial.

Hershey also added that DFCU would be automating processes with workflow, and this is expected to unlock a lot of value in certain areas and processes.

In fact, the OnBase ECM suite has, over the years, evolved consistently through product innovation and has been partly responsible for Hyland's stature in the ECM market today.

KeyMark Inc., an award-winning document management solution provider, has once again received the Diamond support award from Hyland Software Inc., the developer of the OnBase enterprise content management software suite.
