Paperless Solution Assists HR Professionals in Meeting HIPAA Requirements

PaperErasers, Inc has debuted its new module that will assist HR professionals in complying with stringent requirements for record keeping and meeting HIPAA laws. HR leaders will be able take advantage of this paperless solution enabling them to store and track employee records and other documents within a paperless environment and ensuring that their organizations do not get hit with fines and violation suits. ,

While an increasing number of HR leaders are deploying paperless solutions for maintaining records to comply with HIPAA standards, the problem for businesses which support health care plans for more than 50 employees is evident amidst the need for managing records within a secure environment. Currently, a number of businesses implement separate or paperless filing systems to store personnel records and health related information in order to help with streamlining of auditing processes. The biggest challenge faced by HR leaders across all industries arises from the fact that regardless of stringent policies and processes, paper records still remain unsecured which is in direct conflict with the regulations of HIPAA.

In a release Don Hunter, vice president of Operations with PaperErasers, Inc., said, “By securely storing files in a central, electronic repository, HR departments can more easily control and track access to sensitive data."

Some of the advantages of a paperless document management system include: security for sensitive information from risky exposure and the ability to employ cost-effective desktop scanners for the conversion of paper-based documents into electronic format. In addition, these solutions free up storage space, eliminating the need for dedicated storage and filing rooms or cabinets.
