BMC Software Announces Acquisition of I/O Concepts



BMC Software (News - Alert) has announced the acquisition of I/O Concepts along with its ioEnterprise line of mainframe console security, automation and consolidation solutions.

Bill Miller (News - Alert), president for Mainframe Service Management at BMC Software, said that the acquisition of I/O Concepts reinforces BMC’s commitment to mainframe cost optimization, reduced risks and improved productivity.

“It provides customers with the benefits of scaling operations as they continue to modernize and automate their processes to improve business efficiencies,” Miller said.

In addition to expanding the company’s MainView monitoring and automation suite, this latest acquisition reflects its commitment to best-in-class solutions for managing any IBM (News - Alert) System z console environment.

The company plans to introduce the ioEnterprise solution as BMC MainView Console Management for zEnterprise. With the solution, customers can “efficiently” manage complex and geographically dispersed operations from a consolidated and secured point of control.

Thanks to BMC MainView Console Management for zEnterprise, customers can realize a strong return on investment (ROI) in the form of increased productivity, reduced staffing requirements and enhanced systems availability, according to company officials.  

In addition, customers also benefit from remote access and control as well as retain full security and audit coverage. Company officials believe that the acquisition of I/O Concepts will position BMC as the leader in managing complex, geographically dispersed datacenters.

BMC MainView Console Management for zEnterprise is designed to address the growing need for tools that efficiently manage increasingly complex IBM mainframe systems.

Provider of business service management BMC offers a comprehensive approach and unified platform, helping IT organizations cut cost, reduce risk and drive business profit. “This strategic investment enhances BMC solutions for datacenter management and automation by adding a best-in-class product that complements and extends our industry-leading monitoring and automation suite,” Miller said.

Recently, the company released its Remedy OnDemand solution for the government sector.
