The companies have now appointed Mike Steib as the Chief Executing Officer of this joint venture. Steib’s task is to utilize the assets and relationship of American Express and vente-privee.com and make the joint venture a leader in U.S. online private sales market.
American Express acknowledged that Steib was a clear choice for their requirement for a dynamic, energetic leader for the joint venture. Steib brings wealth of technology experience to the role, and has a track record of leveraging data and analytics to build new businesses – exactly the task ahead for the joint venture.
vente-privee.com added that its business is built upon creating a rich online shopping experience and developing deep relationships with its brand partners. Steib has exactly the right mix of technology background and relationship building that the company needed to launch and grow in the U.S.

As part of the partnership agreement, American Express will provide vente-privee.com with access to its entire membership database, as well as its organizational know-how and extensive knowledge of the North American market. The partnership is stated to have brought together two brands that are committed to creating e-commerce opportunities in ways that benefit both consumers and businesses, have a heritage in the luxury market and place a high premium on delivering quality customer service.
Mike Steib before being appointed as the CEO of this joint venture was the Director of Video Advertising for Google’s (News
- Alert) Americas Operations. Before that he worked at the General Manager of Strategic Ventures at NBC Universal where he supposedly received the GE Imagination Breakthrough award for the launch of NBC Weather Plus, the first all-digital broadcast television network along with various accolades in various titles.
