Verizon Tries to Rustle AT&T with $30 Unlimited iPhone Plan

The Wall Street Journal has reported that Verizon (News - Alert), surprising many, will open the all-you-can-eat buffet again, offering an unlimited $30 data plan to its iPhone subscribers in what Openet (News - Alert) bloggers say is "a not-so-subtle attempt to quickly capture AT&T subscribers."

Interestingly enough, the blog wrote, "Rumors surfaced that AT&T was fighting back and offering its unlimited plan back to iPhone (News - Alert) users who previously had opted into a tiered plan and called customer service saying they would switch carriers."

"Both operators know that temporary offers like these won’t result in loyal, more valuable subscribers," the blog writes. With LTE (News - Alert) already a reality, the blog says, and the new network architecture’s heavy IP orientation, "video and high-bandwidth content will constitute the bulk of bandwidth consumption, partly due to the ability to manage the network better than ever before.  Where Verizon can differentiate itself is how it manages its 4G infrastructure and builds in customized services and options."

Or, here's an idea: Why not differentiate itself on offering better customer service? Why not run a competition to find an AT&T (News - Alert) subscriber in Manhattan who completed a three-minute iPhone conversation at any point over the past year without getting dropped once?
