Simena's Low-Latency Monitoring Switch Selected by Leading Financial Exchange Firm

A manufacturer of high-speed and reliable network monitoring, test and measurement solutions, Sterling, Va.-based Simena recently announced an expansion in its client portfolio. According to the company, one of the world's largest futures and options exchange firms, has chosen Simena's Packet Flow Switch, the PFS1524, as a key element in their latency monitoring network.

Simena already boasts of a long list of customers around the world served directly by Simena in USA, and by distributors in 30 countries around the world. When it comes to trading applications, world’s major financial data management and financial firms rely on Simena’s Packet Flow Switches. According to Simena, PFS1524, is the industry's lowest latency monitoring switch. With 24 10 gigabit Ethernet (10GE) full wire speed ports, the PFS1524 can be used to aggregate network tools, and to consolidate or segregate network traffic. Powerful wire speed packet filtering, packet slicing, port tagging, VLAN stacking, and VLAN tag (News - Alert) removing/replacing features provide unprecedented flexibility and control in forwarding packets to an unlimited number of connectivity options.

In a press release, Simena officials announced that its Packet Flow Switches will be deployed at data centers in New York and Chicago. According to the company, the switches will help optimize the exchange firm's low latency 10 gigabit Ethernet monitoring, delivering cost savings while significantly increasing flexibility and monitoring capabilities.

Flexible design is the USP of Simena's Packet Flow Switch, the PFS1524. This allows the switches to quickly adapt to the changing customer needs by adding extra features and functionalities.

“Already deployed in major financial and data management companies worldwide, the PFS1524 Packet Flow Switch has become an essential component in the low latency switching infrastructure for high frequency trading applications. What makes Simena different from others in the financial sector is our unique design and ability to quickly react to growing customer needs for additional features and functionality,” director of Sales at Simena, Robert Lin, explained in a statement.

In early 2010, Simena launched the new version of Packet Flow Switch, PFS1524, a network monitoring and aggregation switch. During the launch, Simena informed that its PFS1524 has the industry's lowest fixed latency due to its cut-thru switching fabric and wire speed performance among all 24 10GE ports. PFS1524 can be used to aggregate 10GE monitoring traffic with features such as clustering, packet slicing, and port tagging.
