According to the members of the Center for Telecom Environment Management Standards (CTEMS), business stakeholders have different ideas when it comes to the financial value of telecom expense management (TEM) and wireless mobility management (WMM) programs.
Only 56 percent of enterprise executives see value in the percentage of telecom savings reports despite the perceived awareness of TEM and WMM program value. In terms of reporting, a mere 44 percent of enterprises report having a telecom performance dashboard. 74 percent of business unit owners identified that they find value in telecom spend by business unit reports, of the reports that are widely adopted. Approximately 80 percent of CTEMS members cite invoice error identification as an activity that provides significant financial value, the company stated in a press release.
“Telecom management impacts stakeholder groups throughout an organization, including IT, Finance, Operations, HR, and executive management," said CTEMS Founder and AOTMP CEO Tim Lybrook in a company press release. "CTEMS has identified that there is a strong demand for more standardized and effective reporting methods that help realize financial value and savings throughout an organization.”
Recently, CTEMS published another study where it stated that lack of business process standards is the highest rated common challenge cited by CTEMS members. CTEMS has plans to address these challenges by supporting the widespread adoption of telecom management best practices. The most widely adopted telecom management best practices among enterprises include invoice processing, auditing, contract management, reporting and analysis, service ordering, sourcing and procurement, and service inventory management.
