The Telecom Expense Management Industry Association (TEMIA (News - Alert)), which acts as the authority for Telecom Expense Management (TEM) and its allied components, is all set to tackle the new priorities as initiated by solution providers in their recent meeting.

TEMIA's mission is to raise awareness and knowledge of the values and benefits of TEM and to improve the quality and value of TEM solutions by promoting open industry standards and industry knowledge.

Nine companies that comprise TEMIA's Executive Board meet once monthly to further the goals of the association. With the Ethics Code already in place, the point of focus over the next twelve months will be the 'future of TEM' and Carrier Outreach.

As TEM will always remain central to the profitability and success of any enterprise, members felt that the industry trade association should not only monitor the market but also the future health. In order to encompass the future vision of the TEM industry, the executive committee in conjunction with its members will also work toward broadening the definition of TEM.

In addition, the committee will work on their second priority and identify different billing from carriers to improve billing and procurement platforms and also to establish standard measures for ratings.

Although topics like IPO Readiness, Acquisitions and Funding also needed to be discussed, they didn't receive enough support to become a top priority. However, a new committee is expected to take up these issues.

Recruiting of members for these committees is underway. TEMIA's executive board is expected to help jump-start these committees and member participation

Since 2006, TEMIA has grown to 38 members with international corporate headquarters managing over $36 billion of telecom and data spend.
