Accenture Signs Outsourcing Contract with Intertek for IT and F&A Services

Accenture (News - Alert), a global management consulting, technology services and outsourcing company, has signed an agreement with Intertek, a provider of quality and safety solutions, to deliver global Information Technology (IT) and finance and accounting (F&A) services to Intertek (News - Alert) on an outsourced basis.

Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.

Under the terms of the agreement, Accenture will provision technology infrastructure, application management and back-office accounting services.

These services are intended to support Intertek’s strong global growth program and enable efficient integration of acquisitions.

The F&A business process outsourcing (BPO) service will be delivered through an Accenture global delivery center in Delhi, India. The agreement covers services currently delivered by Intertek across ten English speaking countries.

The companies will implement the program over the next two years.

In addition to the BPO service, Accenture will provide global technology infrastructure and manage Intertek's bespoke technology applications.

“The Intertek and Accenture agreement aims to create a high performing outsourced shared services environment for Intertek's finance and IT support functions,” said Paul Dillon, senior executive in Accenture's Industrial Equipment Group, in a statement. “We are focused on helping Intertek simplify its back office processes in these areas and delivering cost synergies across the Group.”

Intertek has sustained its growth, including a number of acquisitions. The company is seeking to integrate and standardize its finance and technology functions across a number of geographic locations.

“As part of our Intertek as One program, our collaboration with Accenture will support Intertek's growing IT and accounting requirements across ten countries,” said Lloyd Pitchford, chief financial officer of Intertek Group, in a statement. “This change will provide an efficient, scalable platform to support Intertek's growth program and generate near term cost savings.”

Recently Pepco Holdings, one of the largest energy delivery companies in the U.S.'s mid-Atlantic region, selected Accenture to set up an integrated Network Operations Center (NOC (News - Alert)) to expand the utility's ability to monitor technology that supports its deployment of smart grid components.
