ORBCOMM Enhances Cold Chain Compliance Solution for European Refrigerated Transportation Market

ORBCOMM (News - Alert) Inc. (Nasdaq:ORBC), a global provider of Machine-to-Machine (M2M) and Internet of Things (IoT) solutions, today announced that it has enhanced its cold chain compliance solution for the European refrigerated transportation market. In addition to industry-leading temperature recorders, sensors and the ColdChainView web application, ORBCOMM's comprehensive solution now includes connectivity services from some of the largest providers of terrestrial services in Europe as well as a new mobile app. By enabling precise temperature monitoring, fuel management, preventive maintenance and remote control for food, pharmaceuticals and other temperature-controlled cargo, ORBCOMM helps customers improve end-to-end operations and gain total assurance from the product's origin to destination.

As part of its cold chain compliance solution, ORBCOMM offers the Euroscan X3 temperature recorder as well as the Euroscan MX2 two-way monitoring and control device, which can be used with a wide range of transport assets, including gensets, railcars, ocean containers, straight trucks and trailers. Featuring an integrated printer and easy-to-use interface, the Euroscan X3 delivers printed or electronic temperature records, real-time event-based alerts, advanced reports and analytics on asset performance and utilization, geofences, and more, on demand for temperature-controlled cargo. The Euroscan MX2 tracks the location of refrigerated assets and provides real-time alerts when specific conditions are detected, such as geofence access, intrusion detection, temperature alarms, and more. It also provides a direct interface to cold chain Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) microprocessors to facilitate installation and use.

Both of these versatile devices can be integrated with ORBCOMM's ColdChainView, enabling customers to receive and manage critical asset location, temperature, and status information through the device's built-in display or directly through the web application to ensure timely corrective measures are taken when needed. With ORBCOMM's end-to end telematics solution, customers can ensure proof of an uninterrupted cold chain, optimize asset performance and enable more efficient business planning for refrigerated transportation operations throughout Europe.

ColdChainView is also available through the new ORBCOMMmobile app, enabling customers to manage their refrigerated assets on the go from any mobile device. ORBCOMM's mobile app runs on both iOS and Android devices to facilitate easy access to real-time asset data and key metrics.

As part of its end-to-end solution offering, ORBCOMM is now able to provide terrestrial connectivity services in Europe through partnerships with leading global wireless carriers, T-Mobile (News - Alert) and Telefonica. These unique partnerships enable ORBCOMM to offer cost-effective terrestrial services with flexible data plans to meet customers' specific application requirements.

"From hardware and sensors to a robust web application to wireless connectivity, ORBCOMM's newly enhanced cold chain compliance solution gives customers in Europe everything they need for real-time management and control of their cold chain transport operations," said Marc Eisenberg, ORBCOMM's Chief Executive Officer. "By utilizing our ROI-driven solution, customers can maximize operational efficiency and ensure that products moving along the cold chain meet regulatory compliance and maintain integrity, which significantly reduces claims over cargo loss and damage."

In addition, ORBCOMM recently received the Good Automated Manufacturing Practice (GAMP® 5) official certification of approval from the European Institute for Pharma Logistics (EIPL) for its cold chain compliance solution for the European market. This approval confirms that select ORBCOMM products offer a reliable, cost-efficient choice for customers that need to gain complete traceability of their operations, report storage conditions, including deviations in temperature settings, and protect the quality and integrity of their refrigerated assets throughout the European supply chain.
