Amulet Hotkey and Pivot3 Partner to Deliver Workstation-class Performance Based on a Hyper-Converged Platform

Pivot3, a pioneer and innovator in the development of hyper-converged infrastructure (HCI), and Amulet (News - Alert) Hotkey, the leading provider of high-performance PCoIP workstations and graphics solutions based on blade servers, have partnered to bring Pivot3's hyper-converged infrastructure technology to Amulet Hotkey clients. Amulet Hotkey will be the first to deliver the benefits of combining Pivot3's patented HCI technology with Dell's (News - Alert) PowerEdge M1000e and Dell PowerEdge FX2 systems to support workstation-class applications for Enterprise, Defense, and Engineering markets.

Amulet Hotkey's CoreStation™ solution will leverage NVIDIA's (News - Alert) new GRID 2.0 M6 Datacenter GPU for graphics acceleration technology within the very dense Dell PowerEdge M1000e platform. The high storage efficiency of Pivot3's HCI software makes hyper-convergence possible on premium, dense, all-flash hardware. Amulet Hotkey's new graphics solution designed for very dense infrastructure enables a high-end user experience for graphically intense applications controlled from a centralized and secure IT environment.

On the Dell PowerEdge FX2 platform, Amulet Hotkey will deliver its existing dedicated PCoIP workstations for Finance and Defense applications by leveraging Pivot3's ability to support advanced virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) solutions and provide virtual storage area network (SAN) storage within the same architecture. This enables customers to run demanding applications while leveraging a platform that combines the density and efficiency of blades with the simplicity and cost advantages of rack-based systems.

"This technology alliance will allow Pivot3 and Amulet Hotkey to collectively enter new markets with their unique offering," said Ron Nash, CEO of Pivot3. "By layering our software onto Amulet Hotkey's blade-based solutions, we are able to bring mission critical virtualized graphics to a scale-up-scale-out platform that can support many types of powers users from a single unified platform."

Amulet Hotkey's blade form factor provides a compact, powerful and efficient computing infrastructure, and is widely deployed as a full workstation for one-to-one and one-to-many applications. The benefits include enhanced data security, increased flexibility, reduced cost of ownership, simplified disaster recovery and high availability. Amulet Hotkey leverages the Dell PowerEdge M1000e and PowerEdge FX2 to deliver a powerful tier one remote wrkstation with integrated PCoIP hardware, industry-standard GPUs and announced today for the PowerEdge M630 blade, Data Centre GPU's for GRID 2.0 VDI.

"This holistic, single architecture addresses the needs of clients who are moving to VDI and require the density and storage efficiencies of blades," said Phil Blades, CMO of Amulet Hotkey. "These new offerings create a unique capability, allowing high-performance users in a variety of sectors the performance, visibility, security and flexibility they need for business-critical applications and streamlining intelligent operations."

Amulet Hotkey's CoreStation™ product family features options for powerful 3D application performance with NVIDIA GPUs combined with PCoIP Remote Workstation technology bringing server class reliability and performance to enterprise, defense and engineering markets. Optionally, for virtualized environments, Amulet Hotkey provides PCoIP hardware offload processing power to significantly improve the frames per second and GPU density performance delivered to the end point while ensuring a consistent user experience at all times.

"We're taking the blade headlong into a variety of different markets where those high-end workstations and high-performance blades are necessary," said Joyce Mullen, vice president and general manager, Global OEM Solutions, Dell. "Density is key for our customers, particularly in sectors such as oil and gas, financial services, manufacturing and media. We're seeing a big movement toward VDI, and Pivot3 and Amulet Hotkey's offering based on Dell's innovative PowerEdge platforms will help set the standard for VDI graphics performance."
