Sanpower Group Joins the MIT Media Lab to Explore Cutting Edge Technologies

Sanpower Group Chairman, Yuan Yafei led a team of Sanpower's senior executives to the board meeting of its subsidiary, Brookstone, in Merrimack, New Hampshire. After the board meeting, Mr. Yuan took both Sanpower and Brookstone teams to MIT's (News - Alert) campus in Cambridge, Massachusetts where they executed a membership agreement with the MIT Media Lab--one of the world's most renowned research and innovation institutions. Through this agreement the MIT Media Lab will provide Sanpower Group and its subsidiaries access to its innovative academic research environment in which to explore new ideas and technologies.

At the board meeting, company executives reviewed Brookstone's accomplishments since being acquired by Sanpower Group and Sailing Capital in June, 2014. Since the acquisition, Brookstone has made significant process in achieving its diverse business objectives in innovation, customer experience, and e-commerce. Brookstone has also established a strategic plan to aggressively introduce its novelty product offerings to Chinese and British markets.

Brookstone's popularity and loyal customer base is attributed to its innovative product design and focus on customer experience. Sanpower plans to leverage MIT Media Lab's research resources and innovative approach to multidisciplinary research and exploration as part of Brookstone's program to expand its own research initiatives.

While at MIT Media Lab, Mr. Yuan held talks with Lab co-founder, Professor Nicholas Negroponte (News - Alert) where Mr. Yuan noted that "Sanpower Group is actively exploring transformative opportunities in the traditional 3C retail industry.
