Cofely Services, a Subsidiary of ENGIE, Integrates SIGFOX Solution to Expand Services It Provides for Buildings

Cofely Services opens a new era in driving energy efficiency of buildings and smart metering by connecting its service offering to the SIGFOX energy-efficient, cost-effective network. Through this new partnership with the provider of the world's premier network dedicated to the Internet of Things, the ENGIE subsidiary reinforces its expertise in data processing and analysis, while offering its clients very low operating costs. Within three years, it plans to connect at least 100,000 objects.

Cofely Services and SIGFOX: two complementary expertises for the energy performance of buildings and smart metering

While ENGIE was involved in SIGFOX's fundraising last February that raised $115 million, its subsidiary Cofely Services recently integrated this innovative connectivity technology with its services. Objective: to offer all types of buildings follow-up services, management and smart metering (smart display of consumption and temperatures) to optimize their energy performance.

SIGFOX's wireless, ultra-narrowband (UNB) network has been exclusively designed for small messages that will meet the needs of the vast majority of objects connected to the IoT. By providing economical, energy-efficient two-way transmission of data, SIGFOX is lowering barriers to wide implementation of IoT and M2M solutions, and greatly extending the battery and service life of connected devices.

These services already concern several operating areas integrated into the heart of Cofely Services business, including the data recording and maintenance of ambient temperatures and index of all meters (electricity, energy, water, hot water, gas ... ), detecting the presence of water or predictive maintenance.

Integrated with solutions developed by Cofely Services, this long-range wireless technology offers new operating perspectives and democratizes energy-performance strategies in buildings:

  • Easy set-up: no need for the user to deploy an infrastructure
  • Convenient, easy usage: access to data on all drives (computers, tablets, smartphones ... ), a key feature in the world of connected objects
  • Cost-effective: much lower cost of subscriptions to GSM technology
  • Interoperability: objects connected rgardless of their brands, an open solution

By choosing SIGFOX, Cofely Services reinforces its pioneering status in terms of building-service offerings, and allows new buildings to access smart metering.

Jean-Pierre Monéger, CEO of Cofely Services: "With SIGFOX, we open the field of possibilities. Gains in terms of installation and implementation are indeed significant, allowing us to offer our services to new buildings, such as multi-site, or buildings that are difficult to access. Another advantage of this technology backed by the expertise of Cofely Services for data processing and quality control: smart data processing that will send consumption data and analyze them in real time."

A solution already integrated into the Cofely Services solutions

Cofely Services started integrating this technology into its existing service solutions, including the monitoring solution of the entity Facilities Solutions Link'Co box, Cofely Vision, or Vertuoz Monitoring (smart metering portal). Both latter applications are currently being implemented in pilot sites, for a social landlord in Drancy (Seine Saint Denis - France), and at the National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS) in Strasbourg. Cofely Services is currently working on three new projects totaling 1,500 sites and 7,500 connected objects

Cofely Services aims to deploy thousands of measurement points at the national level beginning with the start of production in the second half 2015. Using SIGFOX, the ENGIE affiliate plans to connect up to 100,000 objects to the Cofely Services information service for trades and energies in the coming three years.

Cofely Services, the DNA of innovation through a partnership strategy

Through its partnership with the French start-up specializing in the Internet of Things, Cofely Services delivers a new concrete example of its innovation strategy that allows it to constantly develop solutions that are both pioneering and serving the performance of businesses and communities.
