Open Interconnect Consortium Adds Members Across Industries and International Markets


Today, the Open Interconnect Consortium, Inc. (OIC) announced the addition of 25 new member organizations thus far in 2015. These companies and nonprofits hail from regions around the world including Greater China, South Korea, North America, Western Europe and the Middle East. They offer products and services in a variety of sectors ranging from energy and engineering to gaming and education. In addition, OIC welcomed a new executive director, Mike Richmond, who has held an array of product marketing and business management leadership roles at Intel (News - Alert) Corporation since 1981.

OIC also has established liaison agreements with both the Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) and UPnP Forum to maintain compatibility and ensure common usages are covered.

"The breadth and diversity of the OIC's latest members and liaison agreements are a testament to our global commitment to standardization," said Richmond. "The addition of these organizations expands our scope well beyond consumer electronics and the smart home, all while accelerating toward our goal - interoperability for connected solutions worldwide."

The OIC will make its way to Taipei in the next few weeks. First, Richmond will present the OIC's vision at the Smart Healthcare Application Development Forum on May 29. In addition, on June 4, Bernard Shung, OIC board representative from MediaTek, will speak during the Smart Home IoT Technology and Application Seminar at COMPUTEX Taipei.
