Radiant Pain Relief Centres Announces Board of Directors

Radiant Pain Relief Centres, which opened a pilot clinic in February 2014, announced that it established a board of directors this month as it moves forward in its plan to expand to more than 100 clinics in North America over the next five years. Board appointments include chairman Edward Brennan, Ph.D., a technology and healthcare entrepreneur; Thomas Rota, a Silicon Valley veteran; and P. Brendon Lundberg, president and CEO of Radiant. The two outside appointments were selected based on their experience with start-up companies, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate financing.

Dr. Brennan is a trained biochemist turned entrepreneur that has participated in the development, management and financing of new medical technology ventures for more than 30 years. He has held several executive leadership and board positions in medical diagnostics, cardiology, urology and more. He has been involved in more than a dozen IPOs, mergers or acquisitions. Until 2014, Dr. Brennan was president of Nexus Dx Inc., a medical diagnostics company that was acquired by Samsung Electronics in 2011. Previously, he helped found Nexus Dx and manage its holding company as a result of the merger with ITC, which had been acquired by Warburg Pincus (News - Alert). Prior to Nexus, he was chief executive officer of CryoCor Inc. until its acquisition by Boston Scientific Corp. in 2008. He served as chairman of HemoSense Inc. until its ale to what is now Alere in 2007. He was a managing partner of Perennial Ventures, a Seattle-based venture capital firm, and a vice president at Tredegar Investments. Dr. Brennan has served on the board of directors of several private companies, and was on the board of trustees of Goucher College, Baltimore, Md. He currently serves on the boards of Integral Spine Solutions, which is developing new technology for interbody fusion surgery, and is the lead independent director of Kilroy Realty Corp. (NYSE: KRC). Dr. Brennan holds B.A. degrees in chemistry and biology and a Ph.D. in biology from the University of California, Santa Cruz.

Mr. Rota is the managing member at Formational Ventures in Palo Alto (News - Alert), Calif., which has invested in Wave 2 Wave Solution Corp., Vigilent Inc., and Pyramid Corp. He is an expert in corporate finance and capitalization strategies for start-up and emerging growth companies. He began his career in finance with The Ford (News - Alert) Motor Company and Kimberly Clark, before moving to Silicon Valley where he evolved his finance experience into venture-backed companies. Since then, he has lead several companies through growth and initial public offering (IPO) in both chief financial and chief information officer roles, including Master Systems Corp, Network Equipment Technologies (NET (News - Alert)), Madge Networks and others. He has raised more than $300 million in capital financing. Mr. Rota received his BBA and MBA in finance from the George Washington University. He resides in Palo Alto, Calif.

"Ed and Tom have each been invaluable counselors to Radiant over the past year by helping us to further refine our approach to growth, and to reinforce the critical elements to patient care," said Brendon Lundberg, president and CEO of Radiant. "Given the results we are seeing in patients at our pilot clinic, our priority is to enable access to Radiant's pain treatment to as many people in North America as possible, as quickly as possible, and the board will play a key role in helping us to achieve that goal."
