Research and Markets: Global 4G Smart Device & Subscriber Markets Report 2015

Research and Markets (http://www.researchandmarkets.com/research/g3lwgj/global_4g_smart) has announced the addition of the "Global 4G Smart Device & Subscriber Markets" report to their offering.

This is the most in-depth market study available in on place of global subscribers, operators and the smart devices they have deployed. The understanding of cellular subscriber unit growth and air interface standards usage by each country is essential in predicting the device shipments for each of the region. Subscriber penetration by population and country is essential in accurately predicting device type growth.

Subscriber forecasts cover all cellular standards, including 2G, 3G and 4G. The 2G standards include GSM and CDMA1x; 3G CDMA1X EVDO, HSPA or HSPA+; 4G includes TDD-LTE (News - Alert), FDD-LTE, and deployment with 3G standards.

The report also covers fixed-broadband subscribers versus households by country for better predicting 4G-modem demand in each region. Included is the 4G subscribers confirmed by operator and their respective launch date and type: Cat 3, Cat 4 or carrier aggregation LTE A status.

Each region contains a five-year forecast for what we call smart devices, which include Smartphones, cellular connected Tablets and Wi-Fi Tablets, Feature, Mid-range and Budget mobile phones and their modem categories. The modem category breakout includes: USB, Mobile Hotspot MiFi routers and LTE-Wi-Fi home routers, both 3G and 4G. The forecasts are across the 12 regions and are presented showing units, ASP and Revenue figures.

The population penetration analysis of the smart devices is based on historical information from 2009, which tracks the installed base of smart device users as a percentage of population. This coupled with a retirement rate per device results in the five-year smart device forecast, namely Smartphone, Tablets and modem devices.

It should be noted that smart device predictions based on SIM subscriber connection data without a knowledge of the non-smart mobile phones in the region (feature, mid-range and budget) generally leads to overstating Smartphone annual shipments. The retirement rates vary broadly from region to region based upon age, device type and income demographics, as provided in the report.

OEM device share calculations, ranked by revenue and units, are included for LTE Smartphones, 3G Smartphones, Tablets, and Non-Smart handsets for the top 30-40 suppliers by region. The report also shows the growth rate from 2013 to 2014 in Smartphones, Tablets and handsets for each supplier in revenue and units. The market share of the leading suppliers shipping to each of the 12 regions is provided in units.

In addition there are tables identifying the specific chipset device usage (Single-, dual-, quad- or octa-core) by major OEMs for all 3G Smartphones, LTE Smartphones and Tablets.

Specifically, the report includes:

- Global and regional market forecasts in units and revenue for each smart device covered in the report - including breakouts of Wi-Fi-only vs. cellular-embedded Tablets

- Vendor market shares (Smartphones, Tablets and non-smart phones) in revenue and units and competitive dynamics. Includes breakouts of vendor's unit market shares within each of the 12 regions.

- Positioning of leading LTE baseband vendor market shares in Smartphones and their first shipments by specific Smartphone suppliers.

- Perspectives on when smart devices will reach population saturation points - based on Installed base of Smartphones, connected Tablets and modems by each of the 12 regions.

- Perspectives on Age, Income and Urbanization for potential buyers of smart devices in emerging market regions.

- Perspective on LTE's impact on fixed broadband Internet connection growth globally. Compares fixed broadband, FTTx versus household penetration globally by region.

- Global market forecast of cellular baseband devices and subscriber connections by air standard across the twelve regions and dozens of countries that we have tracked since 2009. Baseband standards tracked include: 2G, 3G and LTE. In addition a breakout of LTE into TDD or FDD usage and 3G backup modes.
