GSMA Announces Winners of the 2015 Global Mobile AwardsThe GSMA today announced the winners of the 20th Global Mobile Awards, which were presented this afternoon at the GSMA Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The winners were announced in a ceremony hosted by actor, comedian, writer and film producer John Cleese. Cleese, best known for the Monty Python TV and film series, as well as Fawlty Towers and countless film appearances, opened the ceremony in an irreverent style, referring to the audience as "technical geeks" and recalling his experiences of hotel service on his global travels. He was joined on stage to present the awards by Jon Fredrik Baksaas, Chairman, of the GSMA and President and CEO of Telenor Group, Anne Bouverot, Director General of the GSMA and John Hoffman, CEO of GSMA Ltd., as well as representatives from Telefónica, Time/Fortune and Gamelab. The "Connected Women: Leadership in Industry" award will be presented at 10:15 CET on Wednesday, 4th March as part of the Connected Women Summit, which will be held in CC2 Auditorium, Upper Level, Hall 2. Three finalists for the "Young Mobile Innovator of the Year 2015" award will pitch their ideas to a panel of specially selected judges prior to the "Mobile Innovation 2" conference session taking place at 15:15 CET on Wednesday, 4th March, Hall 4, Auditorium 1, with the winner announced at the end of the session. The shortlist for "Best New Mobile Handset, Device or Tablet at Mobile World Congress 2015" will be revealed between 10:15 and 10:30 CET on Mobile World Live TV, as well as the Global Mobile Awards website. The overall winner will be honoured in a live presentation on Mobile World Live TV just after 09:00 CET on Thursday, 5th March. The Global Mobile Awards are judged by more than 300 independent experts, analysts, journalists, academics, and in some cases, mobile operator representatives. The winner of the "Outstanding Overall Mobile Technology - The CTOs' Choice" award was selected by a panel of 17 industry-leading CTOs from the worldwide operator community.
