McKesson Medical Imaging Solutions Will Help St. Rita's Medical Center Achieve Process and Efficiency Goals

ATLANTA --(Business Wire)--

St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima, Ohio, a division of Mercy Health (formerly Catholic Health Partners), is expanding Mercy Health's enterprise imaging initiative by selecting the McKesson Radiology™ diagnostic imaging solution to replace its legacy system. The McKesson solution will help its users achieve the same success and results as other Mercy Health hospitals.

The McKesson solution enables hospitals and clinics to distribute and archive medical images and diagnostic reports across the enterprise. It will also enable St. Rita's Medical Center to leverage its existing infrastructure through tight integration with the existing electronic medical record (EMR) and medical dictation system. Specifically, McKesson Radiology™ and McKesson Radiology Station™ bring enhanced diagnostic capabilities for the reading radiologist and help improve the multi-site reading of imaging exams and sharing of diagnostic information.

"Based on our success at other Mercy Health locations and the reputation McKesson has among our radiologists and other imaging users, McKesson was the obvious choice to meet the demands of our busy diagnostic imaging department," said Mike Hibbard, vice president Applications, Mercy Health. "McKesson's solutions will link all our providers with one system to help optimize operations and streamline workflow across the care continuum."

St. Rita's Medical Center will also implement McKesson Radiology Mammography Plus™ to handle reading and diagnosis of digital mammography images. With patients' current and historical images as well as radiologists' reports embedded within the medical record, the hospital's mammography specialists now will have a more complete medical history of each patient.

"As our long-term customers transition to value-based care, they are increasingly demanding solutions that help maximize the return on their IT investments and provide a scalable, enterprise-wide strategy," said Erkan Akyuz, president of Imaging & Workflow Solutions, McKesson. "McKesson is proud to offer enterprise and radiology solutions that help customers, like Mercy Health and St. Rita's Medical Center, share patient data. Our solutions help them to better connect and oordinate care - all essential elements for success in today's healthcare environment, and an integral part of McKesson's Better Health 2020™ commitment."
