Forsythe Data Centers Introduces First-of-its-Kind Retail+ Colocation Model at 2014 Gartner Data Center Conference

SKOKIE, Ill. --(Business Wire)--

Forsythe Technology, Inc., an IT infrastructure integrator, announced today that its new subsidiary, Forsythe Data Centers, Inc., will debut its new Retail+ data center model, at the upcoming Gartner (News - Alert) Data Center, Infrastructure & Operations Management Conference from December 2 to 5, 2014 in Las Vegas.

"The new Retail+ model features fully private, hard-wall client suites typically found at wholesale facilities, with the flexibility and modularity found in retail facilities," said Steve Harris, Forsythe Data Centers' vice president of data center development. "In addition, these private and secure suites have the added benefits of client-controllable suite infrastructure, scalable power densities and floor space, and operational efficiency options."

Forsythe Data Centers' Chicago-area facility is a 221,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art-technology data center in Elk Grove Village, Ill. At this new facility, Forsythe can help clients plan, procure, finance, build, test, migrate, house and manage IT infrastructure in one location. The facility will be ready for occupancy in spring 2015. The technology data center will also house Forsythe's Technology Evaluation Center and Forsythe's Integration and Configuration Center.

"Our Retail+ model is scalable to help our clients expand their data center capabilities, in terms of power and space requirements, as their companies grow," Harris added. "We have been helping our clients design and build data centers and develop requests for proposal (RFPs) for colocation spaces for more than a decade. Now, we are combining the best features of wholesale and retail colocation offerings, to create an entirely new data center market we call Retail+, which addresses the needs of our clients."

Forsythe has designed its new facility to comply with U.S. Green Building Council LEED certification standards. Forsythe also expects to obtain Tier III certification from the Uptime Institute, a certification currently held by 67 data centers in the U.S. and 494 worldwide, few of which are colocation facilities.

Retail+ offers each tenant the ability to fully control their suite's cooling, an uninterruptible power supply (UPS), as well as physical security and other operational efficiency options.

"In one of our Retail+ private suites, our clients will feel like this is their data center within a data center," said Harris.
