NRTC Welcomes Greg Santoro as Chief Marketing and Strategy Officer


HERNDON, Va. --(Business Wire)--

The National Rural Telecommunications Cooperative (NRTC (News - Alert)) this week welcomes Greg Santoro to the newly created position of chief marketing and strategy officer.

"Greg's job will be to work with our business units, our corporate staff, the board, and me, to extend NRTC's products and offerings, to invest in new technologies that are relevant to our members, and in the end, to do what we're all doing as rural cooperatives - bring economic development and technology parity to rural America," said NRTC CEO Tim Bryan. "Greg will lead all of our efforts to expand solutions to members."

Santoro previously was chief marketing and strategy officer for NII Holdings Inc., which provides mobile communications services to nearly 10 million users in Latin America. He led NII's corporate branding and product, and strategy efforts and developed more than 40 new products, services and handsets.



Earlier, Santoro held the positions of vice president of product innovation at Sprint Nextel (News - Alert) Corp. and vice president of products and services for Nextel Communications, Inc. At Nextel, he managed a team of over 250 product, marketing, business and web development professionals. He was responsible for introducing several industry innovations including the first Java-based mobile app platform, the first PTT enabled Blackberry as well as one of the earliest GPS installation and location services for mobile phones in the United States.

He also has held executive positions BellSouth (News - Alert).net and Digital Equipment Corp. Santoro is a graduate of the University of Vermont in Burlington, VT and has Masters' degrees in Engineering Management and Business Administration from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL.
