MDSL Joins Industrial Internet Consortium as The 'Internet of Things' Blasts Off; MDSL Joins International Partnership of Industry, Government and Academia to Champion Business Efficiency in the New Internet Revolution

(M2 PressWIRE Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) London, New York, Paris, Gothenburg, Tokyo and Hong Kong - MDSL , a leading provider of global Telecom Expense Management (TEM ) and Market Data Management solutions today announced that it has joined The Industrial Internet Consortium (tm) (IIC).

The IIC is the open membership, international non-profit consortium which is setting the architectural framework and direction for the Industrial Internet. Founded in March 2014 by AT&T, Cisco, GE, IBM and Intel, the IIC's mission is to coordinate the vast ecosystem of initiatives to connect and integrate objects with people, processes and data using common architectures, interoperability and open standards; and to further the development, adoption and wide-spread use of interconnected machines, intelligent analytics and people at work.

Through an independently-run consortium of technology innovators, industrial companies, academia and government, the goal of the IIC is to accelerate the development and availability of intelligent industrial automation for the public good. Every day, more and more devices are becoming connected, allowing people to interact in ways not thought previously possible. This convergence of machine and intelligent data is the Industrial Internet. The Industrial Internet will completely transform the way we live and work, as intelligent machines enable greater optimization, leading to better performance, lower costs and higher reliability.

Ben Mendoza, MDSL CEO and founder, said: "The next massive change to affect all of our lives will come through the 'The internet of Things'. This is the world where almost every new device will be designed to be connected, controlled, updated and measured across the internet: the aim is to improve the quality of our lives at home and at work. This could be through better healthcare management, smart metering of the services we use, smart vehicles, and sensors which detect problems or conditions and take action before they become serious, or simply re-order stock when levels fall low.

"For MDSL, the sheer scale of this Machine-to-Machine (M2M) communication leads inexorably to the need for even better inventory and process management controls. This in turn brings a requirement both to measure the full operational costs of all these interacting 'things', and to monitor effectively and understand their impact on the business. There is little value in connecting hundreds of thousands of devices unless it can be demonstrated to be for the good of the business and its customers, and to bring tangible added value or measurable efficiencies. There is also a great need for standards around how devices should securely communicate their data and how that data should be formatted for optimal expense and inventory management.

He continued: "These are the fundamental business issues MDSL's solutions exist to solve, so we are proud to be part of the IIC and look forward to learning and contributing further to the knowledge-base of the Internet of Things." +++ Ends +++ *About MDSL* MDSL leads the market in proactive Telecom Expense Management (TEM) and Market Data Management (MDM) analysis.
