Forest Laboratories Names Karen L. Ling Senior Vice President, Chief Human Resources Officer
NEW YORK --(Business Wire)--
Forest Laboratories, Inc. (NYSE:FRX) today announced that Karen Ling was
appointed Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer. In
this role, Ms. Ling will be responsible for leading the human resources
organization, including talent management, leadership development,
compensation & benefits, and staffing. Ms. Ling will report to Brent
Saunders, Chief Executive Officer and President, and serve as a member
of the Forest Executive Team upon joining the company on January 21,
2014. Ms. Ling succeeds Sally Paull, who joined Forest in 2009 and
served as the company's Senior Vice President of Human Resources.
Commenting on the appointment of Ms. Ling to this new position, Mr.
Saunders said, "Karen brings to Forest extensive global human resources
experience in pharmaceuticals and consumer health care. She is a strong
business leader whose experience includes advising boards of directors
on compensation and benefits-related matters, merger integration, and
leading the human resources activities for commercial organizations with
more than $40 billion in revenue and operations in more than 100
countries. As we continue to rejuvenate Forest, Ms. Ling's kills and
breadth of experience will be essential for Forest to retain, develop,
and attract a best-in-class workforce capable of adapting to a changing

Ms. Ling most recently was Senior Vice President, Human Resources, for
Merck & Co., Inc.'s Global Human Health and Consumer Care businesses
worldwide. Prior to that role at Merck, she was Vice President,
Compensation and Benefits. Prior to Merck, Ms. Ling was Group Vice
President, Global Compensation & Benefits at Schering-Plough.
Ms. Ling spent 14 years at Wyeth in various positions of responsibility
in human resources for the pharmaceutical, vaccines, and consumer health
commercial businesses. She also worked in Wyeth Pharmaceutical's Labor
and Employment Department.
Prior to joining Wyeth, Ms. Ling practiced corporate law with Goldstein
and Manello, P.C. in Boston.
Ms. Ling is a graduate of Yale University, with a degree in economics,
and Boston University School of Law.
