Dorsey & Whitney Congratulates Partner Zachary Carter on Appointment as New York City Corporation Counsel

International law firm Dorsey & Whitney LLP congratulates partner Zachary W. Carter on his appointment by New York City Mayor-Elect Bill de Blasio as the City's next Corporation Counsel, top legal counsel to the City of New York and head of one of the largest public law departments in the country.

Mr. Carter joined Dorsey & Whitney in its New York office in 1999 following a distinguished career as a federal prosecutor, judge and U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York, where he led numerous prosecutions of national significance. During his 14 ears at Dorsey, Mr. Carter practiced in the areas of white collar criminal defense and securities and other complex civil litigation, representing companies in government regulated industries and government contractors. Mr. Carter also advised corporate clients on matters concerning regulatory and ethical compliance as well as corporate governance. During his tenure at Dorsey, Mr. Carter served as co-chair of the firm's White Collar Crime and Civil Fraud practice and as head of the New York Trial Department. He also served multiple terms on Dorsey's Policy Committee, the firm's board of directors.
