Sage Communications' Senior Advisor Charlie Brotman to Serve as the President's Announcer for the 57th Inaugural Parade
MCLEAN, VA, Jan 14, 2013 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) --
Sage Communications, a leading full-service marketing
communications, branding, public relations and event planning firm
based in the D.C. Metro area, is proud to announce that its senior
advisor for consumer and sports marketing, Charlie Brotman, will be
announcing the 57th presidential inaugural parade on Monday, January
21, 2013. Mr. Brotman has participated in 15 previous inaugurations,
including 11 different presidents and spanning 63 years.
Mr. Brotman announced his first presidential inaugural parade in 1949
for Harry S. Truman's second term as president. At the National
Academy of Broadcasting in Washington, D.C., Mr. Brotman was chosen
as one of a handful of students to announce the first ever televised
parade. He was invited back to serve as the President's announcer
after chatting with former president Eisenhower, while Eisenhower was
throwing the president's ceremonial pitch at a baseball game at old
Griffith Stadium, where Mr. Brotman worked. Mr. Brotman has held the
honor of President's announcer since.
Throughout his career, Mr. Brotman has served at inaugural parades
for former presidents Truman, Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon,
Carter, Reagan, George H. W. Bush, Clinton, George W. Bush and
current president Obama.
"Each presidential inaugural parade brings back many memories. It has
been an honor to witness so much history from the announcer's stand,"
said Charlie Brotman, senior advisor for consumer and sports
marketing, Sage Communications. "Each parade has been a unique
experience, reflecting the personality of each individual and the
concerns of the nation at that moment in history."
Sage Communications announced its acquisition of events management
and promotions agency, Brotman Winter Fried in November 2011. BWF
operates as a division of Sage, broadening the company's capabilities
in sports, entertainment and consumer markets. As the senior advisor
for consumer and sports marketing at Sage, Mr. Brotman brings 60
years of expertise to the agency's events business.
"We're proud to have such a D.C. area legend advising us here at
Sage," said David Gorodetski, co-founder and COO, Sage
Communications. "The history and background Mr. Brotman brings with
him are invaluable resources. Mr. Brotman's unique experiences, view
of our nation's capital and the wisdom he has acquired through years
in the communications industry make him a true sage."
