Starboard Storage Announces Three Executive Appointments: President, Vice President of Engineering, and Vice President of Customer Service
BROOMFIELD, Colo. --(Business Wire)--
Starboard
Storage Systems, a provider of unified hybrid storage systems that
simplify and consolidate NAS and SAN storage for midsize enterprises,
today announced the appointment of three technology executives: Tom
Major as president, Chris Alaimo as vice president of engineering, and
Pat Petroskey as vice president of customer service. The new executives
bring valuable industry experience that will further accelerate
Starboard's rapid customer and channel acquisition, product roadmap
delivery, and roll-out of best-in-class customer service programs.
Tom Major joined Starboard from Seagate Technology (News - Alert), where he was senior
vice president of product management and business operations. Before
Seagate, Major worked at LeftHand Networks as chief strategy
officer reporting to Bill Chambers. Previous positions included vice
president and general manager, Disk Business Unit, at StorageTek, and
vice president of network storage marketing at HP, where he spent 21
years.
"This is a great time to join Starboard Storage and I am truly looking
forward to everything we have planned in 2013," said Major. "I have been
watching the company for a while and I was impressed with the
technology, the storage expertise of the team, and the quick adoption
from large numbers of customers that have already deployed the Starboard
Storage systems into production."
Chris Alaimo has more than 20 years of experience in the high-tech
industry. He joine Starboard from Tandberg Data, where he was senior
director of engineering. Alaimo was co-founder of ProStor Systems (News - Alert), which
was acquired by Tandberg Data and Imation in 2011. Before ProStor,
Alaimo held a senior management position at Quantum.
"I am pleased to join the Starboard team and help contribute to its
ongoing engineering and development efforts," said Alaimo. "Starboard's
feature-rich hybrid storage products are changing the way enterprises
are consolidating their storage today. Customers tell me that they are
experiencing up to ten times the performance while reducing spinning
disk counts by nearly 90 percent when consolidating their existing
storage resources with Starboard Storage."
Pat Petroskey joined Starboard from Oracle (News - Alert), where she managed a team of
385 global support engineers as senior director, Systems Technology
Support Center, SAN/NAS, including the Oracle ZFS 7000 unified storage
and Oracle Pillar SAN systems. Before Oracle, she held senior-level
positions at Sun Microsystems and StorageTek. Her career also includes
tenures at SGI and Honeywell (News - Alert).
"I have participated in many customer calls at Starboard already and the
feedback is very positive," said Petroskey. "They immediately see the
difference that the Starboard flash-based appliances can make in their
existing environments. Also, Starboard owns its unified hybrid storage
intellectual properties versus other unified storage vendors that
license file systems from Oracle ZFS. Starboard Storage customers can
rely on us to develop, support, and enhance our Starboard OS quickly and
responsively."
"This is an important step in the life our company as we are bringing on
board top storage industry executives who are well-known for
successfully building products and growing companies," said Bill
Chambers, chief executive officer of Starboard Storage. "I welcome them
to the team and I am glad to have such positive news at the beginning of
the year. We made significant progress since the company was launched a
year ago, and we will share more news in the upcoming weeks."
