Volt's Dr. James McCaffrey to Present Research on Use of Bayes Predictive Techniques for Developers at DevIntersection Conference
LAS VEGAS --(Business Wire)--
Volt Technical Resources, a staffing business of Volt Information
Sciences, Inc., today announced that Dr. James McCaffrey, Associate Vice
President, will present new research at the 2012 DevIntersection
Conference to be held December 9-12 in Las Vegas. Dr. McCaffrey will
deliver a special session on December 11, entitled "Easy Naive Bayes
Predictions for Developers."
McCaffrey's presentation will highlight new software development
techniques for Bayesian inference - mathematical techniques based on
probability that can be used for predictive analytics. "Bayesian
inference has been studied for many years in academia," commented
McCaffrey. "But there is a big gap between the mathematical theory and
the ability to implement practical software systems that work with Big
Data. Software systems that use Naive Bayes inference have a wide range
of potential applications such as advanced predictive analytics for
health systems and analyses of financial systems."
The DevIntersecton Conference is attended by advanced software systems
developers, scientific programmers, Web developers, and database
professionals. Visit http://www.devintersection.com/.
McCaffrey has more than 30 years of experience in research and software
engineering expertise. He manages technical training for software
engineers working at the Microsoft (News - Alert) Redmond, WA campus. Dr. McCaffrey is
also the Senior Contributing Editor for Microsoft's MSDN Magazine,
Microsoft's technical journal for the software development community.

Technical Resources' software education group, VTE, develops and
