The Employer of Excellence award, in recognition of Mouser's dedication to economic development, community giving and educational initiatives, was presented at today's luncheon during the annual conference of the Texas Workforce Commission at the Gaylord in Grapevine.

"We want to thank Workforce Solutions for Tarrant County for this recognition. It is a tremendous honor," says Glenn Smith, President and CEO of Mouser Electronics. "It gives me great personal satisfaction to know that our hard work over the years has impacted so many people in a beneficial way."

Judy McDonald, Executive Director of Workforce Solutions for Tarrant County said: "Mouser's deep commitment as an ctive partner with workforce and economic development, as well as the education system, has made them one of the region's most valuable assets."

The distributor employs nearly 1,000 people at its global headquarters in Mansfield and pumps more than $835 million into our economy every year. In the schools, employees regularly speak to classes and serve on advisory boards. Just this past year, Mouser staff members offered their expertise to the local high school robotics team and helped students build a solar car. The community involvement helped earn Mouser the nomination and recognition as a finalist for Employer of the Year for Texas.

"Our employees are working every day to make a difference in the community. Through our ongoing sponsorships and partnerships with schools, we are committed to fostering educational innovation and excellence particularly in math and science," adds Paula Holcomb, Mouser Electronics' Vice President of Human Resources, who has overseen Mouser's recent hiring surge. "Our hope is to motivate students to further explore careers in engineering and advanced technologies."

One highlight this year was a live audio and video link Mouser sponsored that gave Mansfield students a question and answer session with NASA's Expedition 30 crew aboard the International Space Station. Holcomb notes that Mouser also actively gives back to the community through involvement in several charity programs, including Race for the Cure, Tarrant Area Food Bank, Habitat for Humanity and others.

Workforce Solutions for Tarrant County is funded by Texas Workforce Commission and is one of 28 Workforce Boards across the state. Mouser was nominated for both awards with letters of support from the Mansfield Economic Development Corporation and the Mansfield Independent School District.
